What is Pilates?
_Pilates
is a total body conditioning system that strengthens and stretches the
body through controlled movements. Many of the exercises are done lying
down so you are not working against gravity. We have a fully equipped
studio that enables us to use apparatus designed to help you find the
muscles we are working to strengthen and lengthen. Your
“Powerhouse”refers to your entire abdominal region, lower back and
buttocks. By initiating your movements from your Powerhouse, you are
working the body in the most efficient manner possible. You engage
several muscle groups at the same time- stretching one group while
strengthening another. This allows for maximum benefits without
countless repetitions. Pilates also addresses muscular imbalances. We
encourage the body to work evenly on both sides and strengthen weak
areas and/or sides of the body. Strengthening and stretching through

All Pilates are not the same

of our instructors are trained through an extensive certification
program that takes a minimum of a year and a half to complete. We are
the ONLY certification center in the Carolina's for Romana's Pilates and
hold true to the proven method of Joseph Pilates. We all share the same
philosophy and know modifications to keep you safe regardless of
injury or body type.
