Laney received her MFA from Arizona State University in 1995.  During her studies, she was introduced to Pilates.  While dancing with several modern dance companies in Atlanta, GA, she completed her certification in Romana's Pilates in 1999.   2 years later, she opened Pilates Body Shaping in Fall 2001. Laney is the only Instructor Trainer for Romana's Pilates in North Carolina and is honored to have Pilates Body Shaping serve as a training center for the organization.

 

Anna was introduced to pilates in 2002 by Dr. Anthony Wheeler in an effort to help manage chronic back and hip pain brought on by over 20 years of running. After 2 years as a student, she entered the Romana's Pilates certification program earning her certification in 2005. Anna uses her degree in Exercise Physiology from Wake Forest University along with experience in sports medicine and physical therapy to provide each client with individualized care staying true to Romana’s Pilates and the traditional method.

 

Kim is a native of Santa Barbara, CA who has over 20 years of training in Classical Ballet, beginning at age 3.  She studied at the Joffrey Ballet in New York, Boston Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet all on scholarship and danced professionally for 8 years with Jose Mateo's Ballet Theatre in Boston, as a principal in the company.  In January of 2006 she moved to Charlotte, started taking Pilates with Laney, and completed her certification a year later.  Kim enjoys working with all types of students ranging from dancers and athletes to those dealing with chronic pain.

 

Marci, a Fortune 100 marketing executive and Pilates instructor, understands first-hand the challenges and rewards of finding the time and energy for fitness in a busy professional life. She trained in Pilates for 4 years before deciding to become an instructor, and was certified in 2006. A former gymnast, she finds the studio a natural environment, but continues to balance the corporate world with the physical. This is reflected in her teaching style, which is informed by her business training and her passion for the classical Pilates method. Marci holds a BS in marketing from Penn State University.
 
Upon retiring from the Air Force in 2000, Cat took her first Pilates lesson in 2005 in Boston, MA . After entering the apprentice program in 2006, she completed her certification in June 2009.  Cat has been in the fitness industry over 25 years and is looking forward to meeting and training new and existing clients at the 8th Street Studio.

 

Nathalie was introduced to Romana's Pilates in 2005 at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She entered the certification program in 2008 upon receiving her BFA in Dance Performance and Education. She has discovered teaching Pilates as the most satisfying and fulfilling aspect in all the fields of teaching. Nathalie is tremendously thrilled to be part of the team here at Pilates Body Shaping and she looks forward to helping her clients strengthen their physical, mental, and spiritual health through the work of Joseph Pilates.
