Romana's Pilates Independent Instructor Training Program
_Under the direction of IITP
Instructor Trainer Laney Abernethy, you can receive your certification for Romana's Pilates. Laney is a Level 3 Instructor and is
qualified to oversee the majority of your apprenticeship. She will
guide you through a demanding training regimen that includes hundreds of
hours of observation, rigorous training and thorough performance
evaluations.
All IITP trainers are handpicked, guided and directly mentored by Romana Kryzanowska and Sari Mejia Santo. Such individuals were selected to participate solely on Romana and Sari's long-term observations of their experience, dedication and prowess as teachers. These efforts were undertaken in order to offer you the highest quality instructor training program in the industry and to prepare you for a lifetime of teaching Pilates the way Joseph Pilates intended. The IITP model features hands-on instruction, with students working side-by-side with instructor trainers. Romana's Pilates instructor trainers will teach you much more than just the mat; every student must successfully pass performance assessments that cover all the key pieces of Pilates equipment.

Admission Requirements
_A working knowledge and experience with Pilates is necessary. Although
there are no set number of hours required, most successful candidates
have had a minimum of 50-100 private lessons prior to their assessment. A
potential candidate should also be able to commit a minimum of 15 hours per week. Before scheduling your initial assessment, it is
recommended that you take at least one lesson at the studio with Laney.
Seminars
_After your acceptance into the program, you will
participate in three different seminars which last 2-3 days each. The
location of these may vary. In between the seminars your apprenticeship
consists of 200-300 hours. These include observation, practicing,
assisting and teaching.
Testing
_Throughout your apprenticeship you will have three
comprehensive tests- Level 1, 2 and 3. Levels 2 and 3 are both written
and oral.
Travel
_While the majority of your apprenticeship can be
completed at Pilates Body Shaping, travel to other studios (i.e. True
Pilates New York) is often required. This is usually done in conjunction
with the 2nd and 3rd seminars and/or Level 2 and 3 tests.
Fees
_The approximate cost of the program is $5000 and
does not include private lessons prior to assessment. This is paid in
stages throughout your apprenticeship. Please contact us for a more
specific breakdown of fee requirements.
