NEW Weekly Laughter Yoga

Tuesdays, 5:15pm-6:00pm
Sunday, July 13, 1pm

This class is facilitated by Phyllis Rollins, Charlotte's only Laughter Yoga Leader. Anyone can laugh in a group for 15-20 minutes without depending upon a great sense of humor, jokes, or comedy. Laughter Yoga combines simple laughter exercises (simulated laughter) and gentle yoga breathing, which turn into real laughter when practiced in a group. No registration required.  Please check schedule for any changes to class date or time. Class is also held the second Sunday of every month, 1-3pm. $5

Intro To Meditation

Sat. June 28 1:30-3:30pm

This session is intended for those who have never meditated but is also appropriate for more experienced practitioners. Basic instruction is given in sitting and walking meditation with an emphasis on direct experience. Registration is required. $30

Group Practice
Sat. July 12, 1:30-3:30pm

This session offers sitting and walking meditation in Noble Silence with time for questions at the end. Instruction will not be given. Regular meditation with other practitioners is an important component of establishing an individual practice. Completion of the Introduction to Meditation workshop is required before attendance at one of the monthly group practice sessions, even for experienced meditators. $10

4-Week Intro Series

All students new to yoga, or the Iyengar method, are encouraged to complete the 4-Week Intro series. These classes cover the basics of alignment, action, and philosophy according to the Iyengar tradition. The series of one and a half hour classes is designed to prepare you for our ongoing, beginning level classes. Cost is $50 for the series (non-refundable).

Pranayama Wokshops

Intro to Pranayama 1
Sat. July 26, 1:00-3:00pm

Pranayama is the regulation of the breath which focuses on the length of the inhalation, exhalation and the interruption of the flow of breath. It prepares the mind for more internal practices such as concentration (dharana), meditation (dhyana), and self realization (samadhi). In this beginning class we will cover the benefits and basic techniques of pranayama. You will learn to set up your blankets for supine pranayama, and a variety of breathing practices will be introduced including Ujjayi and Viloma 1 and 2. At the end of this class you will be ready to begin your own daily breathing practice. Cost $30.

Intro to Pranayama 2
Sat. August 2, 1:00-3:00pm

This class is for students with some familiarity with supine pranayama. We will begin to expand our study to include a seated practice. You will learn the benefits and techniques of Viloma 3, Nadi Sodhana, Bhramari and Bhastrika. The effect of focusing our attention on the breath is a quiet serene mind. You will experience a deep sense of peace and relaxation after successful pranayama. Cost: $30
